The Stamp

The stamp comes from 2 designs issue, available only in booklets.

In honour of the Royal Dutch Nature Society's (KNNV) centenary celebration, PTT Post issued a special stamp booklet on 10 October 2000. The booklet entitled "Five for Nature" will consist of five different NLG 80 cent stamps and two seals. Designer Ben Laloua clearly portrays the relationship between man and nature in this stamp series. As the stamps are dedicated to the activities of the society, Laloua has used two KNNV photos taken by the society's own members as a basis for the design. In addition, well-known pictures from the Verkade album have been used in the design. Laloua has used not only the "Whinchat Thrush" and "Scotch Rose with June Beetles" (from Thijsse's book Blonde Duinen), but "Silhouettes" has also been borrowed from Thijsse's well-known book.

Designer Ben Laloua (1968) began her training in graphic design at the Academy of St. Joost in Breda. Thereafter, she pursued post graduate studies in the design department of the Jan van Eyck Academy in Maastricht. Laloua's work has been shown in a number of exhibitions and fairs.

The issue quantity of the booklet is 1,130,000.
